Custom Bleach Playarts Vasto Lorde Ichigo figure.

Hello Everyone! Here is one of my first custom figures. This is actually one of two prototypes. The final production version will more than likely feature color cast hair as opposed to being painted. The horns are held in place by brass rods for structural integrity so as they just wont snap off. each end of the rod is embedded roughly a quarter of an inch on each end. If any of your went to AX this year, you probably saw both versions of this figure in the art Show next to a MG RX-93-2 Hi nu Gundam (Also mine)

I sculpted the master for this piece using portions of the original Hollow mask of the ichigo figure, and a resin cast of Tsuruya's hair. I initially just wanted to produce one for my self but when a buddy of mine asked me to make one for him, i decided to make molds so as i can make multiples. Anyhoo, this particular variation of the figure also features painted skin to reflect ichigo's hollow transformation.

Comments and crits welcome.

1/100 RX-93-2 Hi Nu Gundam MG B-Club Conversion - the only Hi Nu that matters

Greetings all, I have finally finished my dream kit: the 1/100 Hi-Nu Gundam conversion by b-club. I’ve been wanting this thing since it first came out back in the day (2001-2002i think). Not as mod intensive as my 1/100 00-Raiser, but a fun kit none the less. Instead of using the resin face, I decided to keep the face plate of the original MG Nu Gundam. The head of the kit originally had empty spaces for vents, so I decided to take some of the extra verniers from the recast kit and sand them down to fit into said spaces. I used transparent plastic for the lense on the forehead, and a little putty to bulk up the chest. The head and rifle are re-casts, and the rest of the resin parts are originals.

Completed Model: Saber: Gentle Breeze (fate stay night)

This here is my 2nd attempt at a figure kit. The eyes were decals that were supplied with the kit so i cant really take credit for them ^_^. This kit was a fairly easy build. One of very few saber figures out there with her hair down, this kit is truly a unique piece. As this kit did come with a second set of hair attachments, i decided to implement a magnetic mounting system that allows for one to change from the signature bun type hair style to the kits unique flowing hair.

Last Airbender Trailer #2

I've never really been a hardcore Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, but I did find the series enjoyable. That being said, I'm looking forward to the movie, with some reservations. The first being the source material itself. Being a kids show, you cant get too heavy handed or dark with the film, but the trailer seems to make it to be just that. The series relied heavily on comic relief, so I'm not terribly sure how that's going to play into things here. my second concern is the director. I have very mixed feelings about Shamylan. Ive associated his work as of late with craptacular and incredibly anticlimactic endings...but hey, its kid's film so I'm willing to let alot of that crap slide. Anyhoo, onto the reason for this post: the 2nd trailer has been released and the visuals look promising. let's forget for a minute that all the actors save for the water tribe folks ought to be Chinese yeah?

apple iCat?

Now I'm normally not one to post such inane things as videos of a cat playing with an iPad, but hey, first time for everything. Ive yet to finish shooting any of my completed kits as of late, so for now, this will have to do.

back in the game!

Hello to all. I am once again attempting to resurrect this blog. Images of my completed gunpla will be posted shortly as well as completed and painted figures, with the occasional figure review. There will be a few WIPs, but not too many tend to get lazy in photographing my models while working on them. Cheers for now!

Randomness!

Wow, I can't believe its been 2 months since i last posted, ugh, I fail. Well, with school starting up things should get slightly more interesting. Anyhoo, to get the ball rolling, On my usual wanderings about the interweb, I inevitably end up on youtube, and so found the following video.

Completely random, I know, but hey, what's life with out a little randomness right? In the upcoming posts, I plan to have at least 1 figure review and a few pics of a project I recently finished. Stay tuned yeah?

un-fucking believable

Sorry for the profanity, but I think it is warranted. FUCK THESE PIECES OF SHITE! Last I checked, the Olympic Games were a symbol of international cooperation and the promotion of understanding other peoples and cultures. This image below however is the complete antithesis of said principles. Am I the only who thinks that it would be a bad idea to make the "chinky eyes" gesture, long believed to be a derogatory one against Asians IN CHINA!? Well that aside, you can read the article here. So, while I normally would say something like "someone fly over there and start hacking away at some Achilles tendons, I'll be a sport for once and be gentle: BOYCOTT SPANISH GOODS AND START A MASSIVE MEDIA BACKLASH AGAINST THESE ASSHOLES!

wandering about on youtube

So, while completely unrelated to anything I usually talk about on this here blog, I found this vid particularly funny, and being a Hugh Laurie fan, here goes.

what not to get me:
  • P.S. people have often told me that they are worried about getting me a gundam that i dont want or already have....here is a good rule of thumb....anything 1/100 scale form the Master Grade Series is good by me. I dont mind having doubles. It just gives me another change to re-build a kit with new techniques/ideas for modifications
now, here is a list of things NOT TO GET ME/I DO NOT NEED!

  • kitchen knives (Japanese Sushi Knives are ok though...those are fun...i mean usefull...when making sushi)
  • Pre-built Gundam figures (again, waaay to damn picky - Gundam KITS are ok though)

AX 08: Enough said

Yes, Yes, I know, its weeks past AX...been busy, between building my 1/100 Exia, and Technique Impossible Eva-01. So, here it goes.

Lets start with the most important thing: Cosplay
day 1 - Haji (Blood+) -pictures taken loads of time-
day 2 - Preventer (Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz)
day 3 - Jedi (do i really have to say where thats from??) -got my ass kicked my Marvin the Marian-
day 4 - Haji (check day 1)

Not too much photo documentation out there of my Preventer outfit, nor my Jedi get up, but here is one my Haji cosplay and his master Sayasee left of image

3 meisters found at AX - where are you Hallelujiah!

secondly, events:
- Jyukai Concert kicks Ass, officially on my good list of artists, sadly no pics were allowed....crap.
- AX-Idol, some interesting acts, the winner wasnt bad.
- AX Masquerade, short, but not too bad
- misc, got my autograph from the bloke who played Ed Elrich, and pic!
fyi, He knows the difference between an MR saber and Graflex 3-cell, and he's got of 'em!!!

Thirdly, swag! Initially I intended to spend at most $100, have a look at this haul and see if i succeeded

1) Master Replicas Yoda FX Lightsaber
2)Master Grade Shin Musha Gunam
3)1/100 HG GNY-001 Gundam Exia (YES, THE SERIAL NUMBER WAS NECESSARY)
4)Kotobukiya 1/6 Misato Katsuragi (the last one at the entire show!)
5) 1/7 Scale Motoko Kusanagi PVC
6) Max Factory Figma Saber
7)1/8 Alter Enma Ai (thanks much to Larry at Toylet)
8) 1/8 Kotobukiya Hasegawa Akemi PVC
9) (not pictured) Gundam 00 Portraits: Setsuna F Seiei (sheer luck on this one, i opened a blind box!!)

so, what do you all think? did I succeed in keeping within my monetary limits?

Lastly, Post AX-ness
With the belligerent spending at AX, that always results in lots of crap to take home, try stuffing this in the trunk of a Ford Focus Hatchback: This load also includes the haul of one the cats who came with us to AX, who's haul is even more impressive than mine!

Now, as seen on the above post of my cosplay, and the above picture I made and carried a 3 foot tall prop:

This is what happens when we decided that the coffin looking case will not go home with us:

excuse the shitty photography - we were running a tad low on time.

wrap up: After lots of spending, a hell of a lot of driving (as we drove back and for from the LA convention center from my place in the Outer Rim territories) and very little sleep, overall, it was quite a weekend, I'd love to see what the next AX Brings.
